The document that protects you when something goes wrong.

Construction sites generate water from multiple sources, stormwater runoff, dewatering, concrete washout, truck wash-down, hydrostatic testing, and dust suppression. Each one needs to be managed. Each one is a potential compliance failure and a potential pollution incident.

A Construction Water Management Plan documents how water will be managed across your site through every phase of construction. It's required as a condition of consent for many developments in Queensland and NSW, expected by councils and certifiers even where it's not formally required, and the first document the EPA will ask for when responding to a water quality incident on your site.

A good CWMP is a working document, a reference your site team uses every day. A bad one is a 60-page liability that nobody reads and nobody follows.

What we do

  • Dewatering management. Discharge points, treatment requirements, and licensing pathways for groundwater and stormwater pumped from excavations. Where dewatering volumes or quality require an Environment Protection Licence or equivalent, we manage the licensing process as part of the engagement.
  • Stormwater control and diversion. Temporary stormwater management staged to your construction program. Clean water diverted around disturbed areas, dirty water captured and treated before discharge, with monitoring specified for each discharge point.
  • Concrete washout and process water management. Washout protocols and locations, truck wash-down management, and other process water sources documented with the specific controls your crew needs to follow. This is the single most common source of water quality incidents on construction sites and one of the most straightforward to manage with the right protocols.
  • Groundwater protection. Where excavation intersects shallow groundwater or sensitive receiving environments are nearby, the plan specifies preventive measures and monitoring.
  • Water quality monitoring during construction. Sampling parameters, frequencies, trigger levels, and reporting protocols for any discharge from the site.
  • Incident response protocols. Clear, practical procedures for what to do when something goes wrong. Like spills, unexpected inflows, discharge non-compliance. Your site supervisor knows exactly who to call and what to do before the regulator gets involved.

Integration with the ESCP

The CWMP and the Erosion and Sediment Control Plan cover overlapping ground. Prepared separately by different consultants, they often duplicate content, contradict each other on specifics, and double the volume of documentation your site team has to navigate.

We prepare CWMPs and ESCPs as an integrated set. Same author, same site visit, same construction staging, consistent terminology. Your site team gets one coherent water management framework, not two competing documents.
